Abstract

In the digital economy era, the platform ecosystem, as a new paradigm of innovation in business ecosystems, has driven the transformation of industrial organization forms from traditional linear division of labor to networked collaboration, creating conditions for the improvement of enterprises' total factor productivity (TFP). Based on the data of A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020, this paper studies the impact and mechanism of platform ecosystem embeddedness on enterprises' TFP. The results show that platform ecosystem embeddedness has a significant positive impact on enterprises' TFP, and this conclusion remains robust after robustness tests such as replacing samples, changing variables, propensity score matching (PSM) and instrumental variable method. This positive effect is more significant in state-owned enterprises, enterprises without CEO duality and enterprises in the eastern region. Mechanism analysis indicates that platform ecosystem embeddedness promotes the improvement of enterprises' TFP through three paths: enhancing enterprise resilience, promoting industrial chain integration and alleviating resource mismatch. This paper clarifies the internal logic of platform ecosystem embeddedness affecting enterprises' TFP, enriches the research in related fields, and provides empirical reference and practical guidance for enterprise operation and the government's formulation of digital economy policies.
